CSA Military Records of Henry Trotter: National Archives Microcopy No. 267, Roll #7: Enlisted by Lt. W. Jas. Lomax at Pickens C. H. on Dec. 4, 1861. Was private in Capt. Elam Sharpe's Company, Co. F, 1 Batt'n. of Sout h Carolina Cavalry. Age of 48 years shown at enlistment. His horse was value d at $150. and his equipment at $25.00. He received $24.40 pay each month for t he use of his horse. Henry died June 2, 1862 at CSA hospital in Adams Run, S C of typhoid. On December 3, 1862, Susan Trotter, widow, filed a claim fo r the $101.00 pay due her late husband. Henry's body was brought home to the Oolenoy community and buried at Oolenoy Baptist Church Cemetery, Pickens, SC. LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF HENRY TROTTER The State of South Carolina) Pickens District ) Whereas I, Henry Trotter, of the State and District aforesaid being of sound mind and disposing memory, and considering the uncertainty of l ife and being desirious of disposing of what little property it hath please d God to entrust me with, do make publish and declare this to bemy last will a nd testament. 1st. I desire my Executor as soon after my death as possible to pa y my funeral expenses and all my just debts out of the first money that ma y come into his hands. 2nd. I desire my Executors after my death to sell such property as m ay be best spared by my family to pay all my debts. 3rd. I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Susan Trotter all my property both real and personal, which may be left after paying all m y debts, for the support of her and all my children, to remain hers during he r natural life, and if any should be left at her death then to be equally divid ed among all my children. 4th. I do hereby appoint my brother Robert Trotter Executor to thi s my last will and testament.
