Ralph Lee Reece

During the Depression, Ralph rode a train to Washington, DC to try to find a job. When he and the other hobos cooked, they cooked the food in discarded tin cans. Ralph became ill from eating out of a can and was taken to a hospital where he died of meningitis. After much difficulty, his body was allowed to be returned on the train to his home in Winston-Salem, NC. (per E. R. Greene, Jr. - 1998)
